Russian Fighter Jets Penetrate Japanese Airspace

Russian fighter jets penetrated Japanese airspace near the northern island of Hokkaido, prompting Tokyo to scramble its own warplanes and drawing a formal protest from the Japanese. At stake is an ongoing 60-year dispute over four islands, dubbed the Southern Kurils by the Russians and the Northern Territories by Japan. The BBC reports.
