New Espionage Malware Has Unprecedented Sophistication

A new piece of espionage malware targeting governments and key national infrastructure has been on the loose and undetected for at least five years, according to a report in Ars Technica. The cyber espionage tool, dubbed Operation Red October, targeted at least 39 countries - including the Russian Federation, Iran, and the United States - and is without exageration as sophisticated as any known piece of malware in existence. Kaspersky has published a map of known infections. The map does not indicate that any Chinese computers were affected by the virus.
