Israel Building Golan Fence To Shield Against Regional Chaos

Fearing a spillover from Syria's three-way regional proxy war - which has pitted Sunni-backed rebels against the Iran-backed regime against Kurdish groups - Israel has announced its intention to build a security fence between the Golan Heights and Syria. The Guardian reports on the project, which would seek to replicate the success of the fence Israel constructed to block West Bank-based Palestinian terrorists during the Second Intifada. Attacks during the conflict sharply decline in areas where the barrier was built.
