Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi told Egyptian state news that Iran will cancel visa requirements for merchants and tourists from the country, according to the Jerusalem Post. The gesture, made as part of Tehran's efforts to pursue rapprochement with Cairo, will likely deepen concerns in the West about Egyptian ties to Iran, a country that the U.S. and its allies have sought to diplomatically isolate in response to widely-suspected clandestine weaponization components of its atomic program.
