Damascus Trained Hezbollah In Chemical Weapons Use: Defectors

The Washington Post triggered a day of speculation Wednesday by publishing defector accounts to the effect that the Syrian regime of Bashar al-Assad had trained Hezbollah in the use of chemical weapons. Publishing detailed "chilling" descriptions, the paper outlined how the regime has created mobile WMD facilities and prepared proxies for utilizing its arsenal of chemical and biological weapons. Should the allegations prove true, the U.S. and its allies will be pressed to explain why more forceful action was not taken sooner to secure or eliminate non-conventional Syrian assets.
