Eight charter schools have been set up on U.S. military bases, with a ninth in the works to provide close-to-home quality education for the children of those stationed on the bases. But the Government Accountability Office said "there is currently little guidance or information sharing about military base charter schools."

It asked the Education Department to take a closer look at the schools to get a better idea of the challenges they face and establish rules about grants to the schools.
